Citations -- Grade 3

Page history last edited by Jennifer 12 years, 10 months ago

I can give credit when I use information that I find in books and online.

Credit sources in all print, non-print, and electronic. (Information Skills Objective 5.04)

Cite your sources

What does that mean?  When you research a subject, give CREDIT for the information and pictures you use.  Someone wrote that book or created that website, took that photograph or drew that picture.  When you cite your sources you give the original author or artist or photographer credit for their hard work.

What is a citation?

A citation is the information needed to locate the article (or book) you used for your research.  Take a look at the list below to see some of the information you need to create a citation.

  • title
  • author
  • date the article or book was published

How do I create a citation?

When you use NCWISEOWL, Expert Space or PebbleGo, look for the phrase How to Cite this source

What does a citation look like?

(example)

Lithgow, John. I Got Two Dogs. New York: Simon & Schuster, 2008.
