Write a story or an essay.

An essay is personal commentary on a subject. While the subject might be fantasy, the essay is comprised of your thoughts, ideas and opinions.

•In an essay you might write about all of Harry’s powers, then elaborate on your favorites and go on to speculate about (imagine) what you could do with those powers.

A story may be fanciful or realistic, but it should have these elements: a setting; a beginning, middle, and end; characters; a problem and solution.

•In a story, you have more freedom to play with outcomes. You can write as if you really do have those powers. Then you can create the consequences! Now that’s power!

Whether you write a story or an essay, challenge yourself to write with a rich vocabulary. Be descriptive. Use poetic devices like similes and metaphors, alliteration and onomatopoeia.
